Dhaka: The DMP has declared that they will take every measure to make an enjoyable and safe celebration for the people of Dhaka. Commissioner of the DMP, SM Sazzat Ali, released this information after the coordination meeting held at the DMP headquarters on Monday.
The DMP chief informed the press that a comprehensive appreciation of the law and order situation prevailing in the city of Dhaka had been undertaken, with particular reference to Eid security needs. He stated that awareness, both on the part of the individual and institutions, is essential to the peaceful celebration of Eid. He also mentioned that the police force had devised a few broad strategies to maintain law and order during the festive season and guarantee peoples' safety while celebrating Eid.
The meeting took into consideration such topics as ensuring the unimpeded movement of traffic for Eid passengers, facilitating large Eid congregation gatherings, and putting in place an effective traffic management system throughout the city. The purpose of these measures is grievance management for the substantial number of Eid pilgrims travelling into the city and those attending the prayer sessions in order to avoid the possibilities of riots and to safeguard public safety.
Another achievement of which the DMP commissioner was proud was the very much improved law and order situation in the city, which has seen a decline in robberies and extortion. All of these changes have been a result of the tireless, sustained effort from the police.
The DMP chief appealed for continued support from the public, stating that the retention of improved security could be achieved only through collective efforts. Keeping in view the initiatives undertaken, the DMP is keen to open up a conducive environment for the safe Eid days for the people of Dhaka for their celebration and enjoyment.
